But once she discovered hypnotherapy, she was hooked. She knew that this was the way for her to really make a difference.
“I had done some self-hypnosis before but then a friend told me about a lady who ran a hypnotherapy academy. Ultimately, she helped me change direction in my career to become a hypnotherapist.” At Ideal Health Solutions, Carolyn enjoys working alongside a team of professionals to provide holistic care to her clients. “I love helping people stop smoking, lose weight or reduce their panic attacks and anxiety. Working in such a big team where we can cross-refer patients. When someone is carrying extra weight, it impacts on their ankles, back and knees. As I am supporting a client with weight loss hypnotherapy I can also refer them to Dr Daniel Zrnic for chiropractic or Daniel Attia for physiotherapy.
For many people, when they think of hypnotherapy, they think of a hypnotist on stage getting people to cluck like a chicken. But this is nothing like what Carolyn does.
“I want people to know that no one can be hypnotised if they don’t want to be and no one will do anything under hypnosis that they don’t want to do. Those stage shows are a bit of fun, but hypnotherapy has been clinically proven to be effective with MRIs.
Being in a state of hypnosis quietens the connections in our mind to enhance the connections in our unconscious mind. When we effectively switch off the conscious brain for a little while and only deal with the unconscious brand we can actually really get to the heart of an issue that someone has been dealing with.”
Carolyn is a big believer in self-development and believes that the work she has done, both as a clinician and her own self-work, make her an empathetic hypnotherapist.
“I do a lot of my own research and learning outside of my professional areas of work - hypnotherapy and physiotherapy. I have had a richer life because of it. My clients always tell me that they feel better after coming to see me and that’s because I am always empathetic and helpful.”
When Carolyn isn’t working, she enjoys doing yoga and walking her dog.
